Obituary for Dennis Garry Demerais

Dennis Garry Demerais
Dennis Garry Demerais, late of Prince Albert, SK, passed away on September 15, 2018 in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 70 years with his loving Family at his side. Dad fought a courageous battle with cancer, and although the cancer took his life, his spirit, loving nature and humor did not waver. He will be truly missed by his family and friends. Dennis was born in Birch Hills, SK, and he was the fourth child of Ethel and Louis Demerais. He grew up in Birch Hills with his many siblings. At the age of 19 he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy and served for five years, traveling to many countries and gathering many entertaining stories along the way. During this time Dennis met the love of his life Colleen Bevin of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. They married and had two children, Angela and Dennis (Jr). Dad was gifted with the natural talent of baking and cooking, and his love for baking started at a very young age. This talent led him into culinary school in the navy and into his career as a baker at Safeway Canada. However, his baking career was cut short by an aneurism in 1986 which left him disabled. Although disabled he led a full active life for many years. His last few years were spent in the Herb Basset Nursing Home. A most sincere thank you to the staff who cared for my father and showed him such compassion and love. Dennis is lovingly survived by; Daughter Angela, granddaughter Sarah and great grandson Daine, his son Dennis and his siblings; Fay (Dennis) Leonard, sister in law Wendy, Ken (Mavis), Clive, Maureen (Ken) Konkin Doug (Linda), George, Elaine, Sydney (Beatrice), Verla (Vern) Becker, Lyle (Angela), Lisa and numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis was predeceased by: His wife Colleen, Parents Ethel and Louis Demerais, brother William (Bill) and nephew Shawn Leonard. Visitation will be at MacKenzie Chapel Wednesday September 19th, 7:00 pm We will Honor and celebrate the life of my beloved father, Dennis Garry Demerais during his Funeral Service on Thursday September 20th, 1:00pm at MacKenzie Chapel.
